Russian dramatist, opera librettist and translator (1850–1916) and the younger brother of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Handwritten telegram in pencil, in Russian, signed “Tchaikovsky,” one page on an 9 x 7 lightly-lined form, no date but 1880s. Tchaikovsky writes to his publisher in Moscow. In full (translated): “From St. Petersburg. I cannot give you a definite answer right now. I’ll deliver it to you soon in writing. Please send me ten extra copies. I’ll pay for them separately.” Intersecting folds, office stampings and notations, and mild staining and edge chipping, otherwise fine condition.
