Model 1881 Infantry Officer's Dress Helmet
Complete Model 1881 Infantry Officer's Dress Helmet, Accessories, and Case. A beautiful example of an officer's dress helmet complete with sword belt. The helmet body is made of cork covered with black felt and is complete with officer's finely detailed chain chin straps, infantry side buttons, spike, a rare white buffalo plume, chest cords, and a beautifully detailed eagle plate for the 16th infantry. The helmet and eagle plate were manufactured by the Henry V. Allien company of New York. The interior of the helmet is lined with blue satin and the sweatband is complete. The helmet and accoutrements are contained in a japanned metal box with fitted compartments for each accessory. The overall condition of the helmet is excellent with only a nick to the felt (covered by the chinstrap) and light storage wear to the leather trim at the base. The quality of Henry V. Allien made helmets is superlative and this helmet would be difficult to upgrade.

Accompanying the helmet is an officer's size 38 sword belt, including hangers, with belt plate. The finely detailed eagle belt plate is the variety with silver washed oak leaves. The silver wash has worn thin and the belt is worn at the edges but both would rate a very good condition.

Shipping: Large Collectibles (view shipping information)
