Model 1874 Gatling Gun, mfg'd by Mike Suschka at Thunder Valley Machine Co., .45-70 cal., ten 29-3/4'' barrels, correct worm gear type elevation and traverse device, side-mounted front and rear sights, early type exposed cartridge magazine, on brass and oak tripod, with Gatling/Colt type bronze patent disk marked ''Gatling's Battery Gun/ Pat. Nov. 4, 1862/May 9, 1865/Feb. 28, 1871/Apr. 9, 1872/Made by Colt's Pat. Fire Arms Mfg. Co., Hartford, Conn. U.S.A.''. In the mid-1970s, the Mike Suchka was dissatified with the function of genuine gatling guns and set out to build an improved version using modern methods and materals. He built almost all the parts himself, correcting many of the inherent design flaws in the originals. In a 1988 article in Firepower Magazine, Frank James witnesses Mike fire his Model 1874 at over 1200 rounds per minute. Condition is excellent with light to moderate overall patina to brass parts. Thinning to finish at feet of tripod. Barrels were made to appear with thinning and lightly toning finish to give a very impressive and realistic look. Gun stands approx. 48'' at highest point; with magazine 64''; approx. 4' long. An extremely well made and accurate reproduction of a firearm normally valued at $200,000-$300,000. Est.: $28,000-$35,000. (Modern)
