Model 1870 U.S. Trapdoor rifle, .50 cal., 32-1/2” barrel, military finish, wood stock, #15933. This rifle is in overall very good condition showing and even brown patina on the barrel and traces of silvery case color on the receiver mixed with abrown patina; lock plate has similar brown patina and clear “U.S. Springfield”, “1863” and Spread Eagle markings; the serial number is marked on the left rear side of the barrel and front left side of the receiver; the action is very good, thebore is very good, both sling swivels remain as does the metal cleaning rod and the wood is in overall good condition showing scattered nicks, mars and scratches from carry and storage. Less than 12,000 of this model were manufactured.Est.: $400-$800.
