Model 1841 U.S. Percussion Rifle
Model 1841 U.S. Percussion Rifle - A.K.A. Mississippi, Rifle. 33" round barrel is 59 Caliber and has been reamed out from 54 Caliber- the bore is heavily pitted. The lock plate is marked Robbins & Lawrence U.S. in 3 lines in front of the hammer and Winder, V.T. 1849 in 2 lines behind the hammer. The brass patch box, trigger guard and barrel bands are bright and shiny - the first band is stamped with an M. The brass side plate has the letter B stamped in the middle. The barrel has an arsenal bright finish with none of the original browning left, the lock is silver-gray with some brown freckling and the hammer is mostly a casehardened blue & gray mix. The wood stock is excellent and has two nice cartouches on the flat opposite the lock. The steel ramrod with brass tip is still present. A decent example of one of the most handsome civil war rifle made.
Estimated Value$1,500 - 2,500.
