Model 1841 U.S. Mississippi Rifle, by Harper's Ferry, NVSN, .54 cal., 33'' round barrel, two brass barrel bands, triggerguard, buttplate and patchbox; sideplate with Federal eagle over ''US'', rear portion marked ''Harper's/Ferry/1854''; one-piece near full-length walnut stock, complete with sling, early Snell patent saber bayonet, scabbard, frog and tampion. Early brass-tipped trumpet-head ramrod remains. Condition is excellent with 96%+ browning remaining to barrel, mild toning patina to brass parts, sideplate and hammer have silvered and toned. Stock with light scuffs and very small losses along edge which detract little. Action remains crisp. Bayonet with light carbon spotting; scabbard and frog in fine condition with just light crazing at belt loop folds. It is interesting to note that only approx. 1646 of the Snell patent bayonets were produced, making this one of the scarcest variations. Est.: $3,000-$5,000. (Antique)
