Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol, by Asa Waters, .54 cal., 8-1/2'' round barrel, one-piece walnut stock nicely cartouched ''NB'' and ''WAT'', with brass blade front sight, and dished oval rear sight. Mfg'd 1836-1844. Sideplate marked ''A.H. Waters & Co., Milbury, Mass/1844''. This was the last U.S. martial pistol utilizing the flintlock system. Standard issue during the Mexican War, and in its converted state through the Civil War. 1844 dated specimens are considered quite scarce with an estimated production of approx. 3000. Condition is fine with light overall carbon spotting to bright surfaces, and darkening and silver toning to case hardened lock. Stock with scuffs, some scratches, and very lightly applied date just forward of triggerguard. Est.: $2,000-$3,000. (Antique)
