Scarce Model 1833 Hall-North U.S. Breechloading Percussion Carbine, NSNV, .52 cal., 26-3/16'' round barrel secured by two steel bands, brown finish, case hardened breech, walnut stock, compartment for jag and tool (present) in bottom of butt area, with combination ramrod bayonet mounted in the forend of stock. Carbine features long triggerguard with two finger ridges, with sling ring. Top of breechblock marked ''US/S. North/MIDL'tn/Conn/1839''. It is of note that the Model 1833 Carbine is the earliest percussion weapon adopted by the U.S. Government and is also the earliest adopted breechloader. Condition is very good retaining approx. 85% lacquered brown barrel with minor silvering near barrel bands. Breechblock has toned a silvery gray showing some case colors in protected areas. Stock with moderate scuffs, dings and scratches, and mild darkening near metal surfaces. Action functions as designed, bore is smooth with light erosion. Clear cartouche to left side b!
