Width 4 5/8 in.

A three-level circular pyramid is set on a low flanged base. A rectangular building rests on top with its roof stepping outward and upward toward either end. A blade of the same form as those seen on headdresses of Moche warriors rises from the center of the roof to a level slightly higher than the end peaks. Along the top tier of the pyramid a serpent-like form originates at the proper left base of the spout, from which it passes along the side of the tier to the front center, where it flows up and into the central door of the building. A small segment of similar shape at the proper left rear of the roof passes from under the headdress element to the upper spout base, suggesting that this tubular element, whatever it may represent, forms a continuous loop. While overall condition is good, the top half of the spout and the center of the roof blade are replacements.

Provenance
Bonhams & Butterfields, San Francisco: sale 7437E, 9 June 2003, pp.18-19, lot 5075
