One of Japan’s most skilled fliers, Fuchida (1902–1976) commanded the air attack against Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and was the last to leave the battle area. After World War II, Fuchida converted to Christianity and became a nondenominational preacher, traveling frequently to America and later becoming a US citizen. Signed book: From Pearl Harbor to Golgotha. San Jose, California: Ski Pilots Press, 1955. Hardcover, 5.5 x 7.5, 94 pages. Signed in blue ballpoint on the first free end page, “Mitsuo Fuchida” adding the Biblical verse “Luke 23:34” and his name in Japanese characters. In very good condition, with light toning to the signature page, soiling and chipping to the boards, a former owner’s name written at the top of the signature page, library card paste-downs on the back board and last free end page, and a small piece of tape to front cover.
