One of Japan's most skilled fliers, Fuchida (1902–1976) commanded the air attack against Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and was the last to leave the battle area. After World War II, Fuchida converted to Christianity and became a nondenominational preacher, traveling frequently to America and later becoming a US citizen. Signed book: Midway: The Battle That Doomed Japan. Later printing. Annapolis: United States Naval Institute, 1957. Hardcover with dust jacket, 6.25 x 9.25, 266 pages. Signed on a slip affixed to the dedication page in English and Japanese, "Mitsuo Fuchida…Luke 23:34." Also inscribed in another hand, "To Mr. &. Mrs. Stanley Kreage, Courtesy of Sky Pilots of America." In fine condition, with light adhesive residue around the signature, and light wear to the dust jacket.
