One of Japan’s most skilled fliers, Fuchida (1902–1976) commanded the air attack against Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and was the last to leave the battle area. After World War II, Fuchida converted to Christianity and became a nondenominational preacher, traveling frequently to America and later becoming a US citizen. Teixeira was a captain in the 1st US Infantry Division who designed and published 34 patriotic covers during the war. Commemorative cover with a cachet honoring the liberation of Manila, signed in ink, “Mitsuo Fuchida” and “Frank L. Teixeira,” with Fuchida also signing in Japanese. In fine condition.
