Missoula Brewing Co. Highlander Beer Light 1950-60
For your consideration is this 1950-60s Missoula Brewing Company hanging light, advertising Highlander Beer. Joseph Wagner established the original Missoula Brewing Company in 1890, which had its headquarters at 109 West Front Street in Missoula. The first Highlander Beer was manufactured in 1910 after permission to use the name was granted by the New York Highlanders (soon to become the Yankees). Highlander was a staple beer of Montana households for decades, with its brewery by then prominently positioned at the base of Waterworks Hill close to Rattlesnake Creek. Highlander thrived throughout Montana and the surrounding regions when Prohibition ended until the brewery shut its doors in 1964. The brewery is back in business today. The hanging light shows a gold colored metal construction with the front being molded plastic. The molded plastic shows red and black colored plaid graphics on the right and left sides with the center reading, "Premium Highlander Beer" in red and black lettering. The bottom left reads, "Missoula Brewing Co." while the bottom right reads, "Missoula, Mont.". The back of the light shows a tag from the manufacturers of the light reading, "The Ohio Advertising Display Co. / Cincinnati, Ohio". The light works when plugged in and shows good condition overall with very little wear present and no signs of obvious damage. The light measures 6 1/8" L x 14 1/2" W x 4" D and weighs 1 pound and 12 ounces.
