Featured in this lot is this pair of Mississippi River Basin alligator gar taxidermy. There are two alligator gar taxidermy in this collection. The larger alligator gar shows the traditional alligator gar facial features with the elongated snout and sharp teeth with fins attached and is mounted on dehydrated bark. The smaller alligator gar shows a smaller snout with sharp teeth and is mounted on a medium size branch. The alligator gar is a euryhaline ray-finned fish in the clade Ginglymodi of the infraclass Holostei, being most closely related to the bowfins. It is the largest species in the gar family, and is among the largest freshwater fish in North America. The condition of this collection of Alligator Gar mounts is preserved with some damage to the tail and some aging to the skin of the taxidermy but otherwise is in preserved condition. The measurements of this pair of Alligator Gar taxidermy is 17 1/4" x 12 3/4" and 21" x 7 3/4". The collective weight of this pair of alligator gar mounts is 1lb 6oz.
