Includes a sweetgrass coiled basket with a lid and small rings hanging from sides and one at center top, stitching makes subtle checkered pattern at fullest part of basket and on top; 6" diameter x 2.75" high; PLUS a sweetgrass coiled bowl, with open zig-zag pattern, with a birchbark panel in bottom of bowl, with a purple quilled flower in center; 7" diam. x 1.5" high; PLUS a simple, coiled tray; 7" long x 1" high; PLUS a small twined cornhusk salt or tobacco bottle; PLUS a round plaited basket with a lid and with a dark fiber checkered motif on lid and sides; 5.75" diameter x 3" high; PLUS a coiled basket tray with a braided rim; 1" high x 6" diameter; PLUS folded birchbark basket with porcupine quill decoration in a fan motif; 5.25" long x 3" high; PLUS heart-shaped sweetgrass coiled tray with zig-zag openwork on sides and birchbark center with qillwork flower in tan and yellow; 6" wide x .75" high; PLUS lidded sweetgrass basket with ash splints dyed magenta and pale green; 3.5" high x 6.5" diameter; PLUS a birchbard folded basket with a quilled diamond on each side, thread sewn rim; 4" long x 2" high; AND another nearly identical basket, but with a detached lid with a quilled diamond; 4" long x 2" high. Deaccessioned from the Western Reserve Historical Society of Cleveland, Ohio. First, very good, top is detatched; second, very good, slightly soiled; third, very good; four, very good; five, very good; six, braided rim broken and a length missing; seven, folded sides broken, bark peeling; eight, very good; nine, very good, splints somewhat faded; ten, thread stitching along rim broken in places; eleven, side split and rim has been stapled to basket.

<p>Terms of Sale. The highest bidder for each lot shall be the buyer, and if any dispute arises as to any bidding, or between two or more bidders, at the sole discretion of the auctioneer, the disputed lot shall be put up again at the last undisputed bid and resold.
<p>Buyer’s Premium. Successful bidders shall pay the hammer price of each lot, plus a 15%, added on buyer’s premium.

<p>Condition of Items in the Sale. Cowan’s Historic Americana Auctions does not warrant the condition of any lot sold. ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, and neither Cowan’s nor the consignor makes any warranties or representations of any kind or nature with respect to the property or it’s value, and in no event shall they be responsible for correctness of description, genuineness, attribution, provenance, authenticity, authorship, completeness, condition of the property or estimate of it’s value. No statement (oral or written) in the catalog, at the auction, or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty or representation, or any assumption of responsibility.
<p>While condition reports for most items can be found online at Cowan’s website www.historicamericana.com, prospective bidders are urged to contact Cowan’s directly for detailed information regarding any lot. THERE SHALL BE NO RETURNS FOR ANY REASON.
<p>Estimates. Pre-sale estimates of the expected hammer price of each lot are provided for the convenience of prospective bidders. In most cases, they do not represent reserves. Bidders are encouraged to bid what they feel an item is worth.
<p>Dimensions. Unless otherwise noted, all dimensions are given in inches.
<p>HOW DO I BID?
<p>Internet bidding through icollector and ebaylive auctions is offered as a service to our customers, and prospective bidders shall not hold the auctioneer or his staff responsible for any errors or failures in executing bids, nor shall they hold the auctioneer responsible for any failure due to the loss of the auction applet supplied to Cowan’s by ebayliveauctions.
<p>Absentee Bidding. Absentee bids left through ebaylive auctions and icollector auctions are automatically bid electronically by the computers of eBay. These electronic bids often compete against absentee bids left directly with Cowan’s staff by prospective bidders who are not participating in the internet component of the auction, but have contacted Cowan’s directly and “left” a bid.
