Captain of the 1980 Winter Olympics United States national team that defeated the Soviet Union in the famous ‘Miracle on Ice’ game. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Olympic Hockey Team letterhead, no date. Form letter thanking a fan for his letter following the 1980 Olympic victory. In part: “I feel it was an honor to be chosen to play on that team representing the United States and to be elected captain was a real tribute from the ‘family’ we players had become. I am very proud to be an American and to keep that pride going that has always been part of the American heritage. I have chosen to leave the hockey profession since I feel I have attained the best I could in that capacity.” In fine condition.
