Minnehaha, Arizona Letters (2)
Lot of 2 letters, both written by D.M. Shropshire to "Harry" (H.B. Adsil), one to Indianapolis and one to him in Telluride, CO. They discuss conditions and mining prospects. Two great documents with plenty of Arizona place names mentioned, and written from a unique area. Minnehaha was located 10 miles west of Crown King, and actually consists of several towns--Patterson, Marion, McCormick, and Burton are examples--all located on the Minnehaha flats, each serving as a gateway to the Bradshaw Mountains. A Post Office was started in 1880, but moved to Burton in the '90s until it closed in 1910. A caretaker and dogs are the only remaining residents, but the mine buildings remain intact
