Colorado Gold Rush Stock Certificates and Ephemera, Gilpin District, Colorado.
One of the the first gold mining companies on/near Gregory Gulch, part of the first lode discoveries in Colorado.

1. The Consolidated Gregory Company, incorporated in New York, operating in Gilpin District. Cert. no. 690 issued to J. A. Hale for 100 shares at $50 each on Mar 26, 1867, in New York. Signed by vice president Robert Courtney and secretary H. Hanington. Black print on yellow paper by Sackett & Mackay, Print 27 Pine St., New York. In fine condition, measuring 8 x 10".
The mine site was located at Gregory Gulch, near Black Hawk and Central City. John H. Gregory discovered the Gregory Gulch in 1859 and brought prospectors by the thousands to the area.
From Corbett (1879, p.215): "Gregory. Located in Gregory mining district, in town of Black hawk; discovered 1859; yield to date, $9,000,000; the Briggs Bros. own 540 linear feet on this lode, and the New York and Colorado Co., 800 feet." Second entry: "Gregory-second. Located on Bates hill, Enterprise mining district, near Black HawK, runs parallel to the to the Gregory, and has a shaft 400 feet deep."

A scarce territorial mining stock certificate of a very important lode mine, issued 9 years before Colorado gained statehood. It includes large cross section maps of several mining sites.

2. The California Milling and Mining Company Limited, incorporated under the companies acts 1862 to 1890 in London. Cert. no. 466 issued to John Ebenezer Crickmer for 100 shares on Jun 3, 1898. Signed by 2 directors and secretary John A.M. Bonar. Green print on white paper.
John A.M. Bonar was the owner of the California and the Hidden Treasure Gold mines on Quartz Hill, Nevadaville, near Central City, Nevada District. When gold was discovered, it was called "the richest square mile on earth". (Ref: Burchard 1884 pg.301-302/ Axford, 1976 pg. 95/Dallas, 1985, pgs 43-48, 139-141/Fossett, 1880 pgs 286-330.)

3. The Little Kingdom Mining Company, incorporated in Arizona, operating in Gilpin District, Colorado. Cert. no. 3479 issued to Wm. J. Hemmings for 100 shares on Dec 8, 1910 in Denver. Signed by H. G. Osborn as secretary and L. H. Flanders as president. Front is printed in black, gold border and seal, back is printed with brown ink, pamphlet style, 3 fold. Center top, a vignette of a mountain scenery with a house in the center and mining building off in the distance. It shows a couple with their carriage and horse, the lady is sitting on tree stump talking to the man. Allot of ornate drawings on this certificate, very artistic.
Includes a letter, dated Mar 6, 1910; communications between L. H. Flanders and R.G. Griggith regarding mining operations.

4. The Big Five Tunnel, Ore Reduction and Transportation Company, incorporated in Denver, located in Clear Creek County, Idaho Springs District, Colorado. Cert. no. 7008 issued to M.T. Galamean(?) for 19 shares, on Jan 14, 1907 in Denver. Signed by Wm P. Daniels as president and Edward Lange as secretary. Greet border print, rest is black print on yellow paper, measuring 3.5 x 7.5".Not cancelled, very fine artistic border in the back, printed in green.

1 receipt for buying the shares as mentioned above, 19 shares on cert. no. 7008, signed by Daniels and Lange again, big company stamp top left corner. Proof of consolidation of 12 companies in one, The Big Five.
1 company letter to Mr. Galamean, requesting his signature on his stock cert. for transferring his funds, dated Dec 19, 1905 in Denver; signed by Ed. Lange.
1 very artistic postcard, showing 3 scenic pictures on the front and is describing the history of the Colorado gold rush on the back.
