Miniature or salesman’s sample size fully operational steam engine, approx. 15” long by 7” wide by 14” high in overall excellent condition. This very detailed device is constructed of cast iron with steel and brass components; the mechanism is on a cast iron base and shows details including ladders to either side of the engine, two worker walkways, the main round steel wheels that operate the camshaft and hydraulic pistons, large brass steam vent and even a front pressure gauge with related adjusting handles, etc. We would estimate this model to have been constructed in the late 1800s or early 1900s. To reproduce this workmanship in a scale model today would be cost prohibitive in terms of time alone, assuming you could find a master machinist who would be willing to take on the project. Museum quality. Est.: $1,250-$2,500.
