Provenance: Private collection, Cologne

The present miniature is quite an unusual painting, notable for its very unusual large scale, bright red ground, lively representation of the figures and very interesting intermix of regional styles. The complex work appears Rajasthani but contains elements of Bikaner, Kotah, Ajmer and Northern Deccani style. A rare painting – for there are few comparable works – and visually impressive with a charming and complex subject.

Condition: The work is overall in good condition with some losses and fraying to the outer red borders. Partly there are some stains and creases. The sheet measures 50 x 75 cm.
