Kashmir School

The Kashmir school flourished in the late 18th and 19th century. Popular were illuminations of manuscripts, horoscopes as well as individual paintings. The artists favored religious themes with Hindu deities and local gods and goddesses. Kashmir miniatures are defined by delicate lines, harmonious colors and often ornamental borders.
