Ming period polychrome wood carving in shape of a Lohan. Despite the age, the wood preserved the red and black colors of the tunic painting. The painting was done on a layer of gesso and there are some areas of gesso peeling, wood wear and a small area of wood splint over the right shoulder. There are no cracks other than normal age wear, especially visible on the unpainted area of the base. Of course, wood carvings of almost 400 years are always in deteriorating condition, but this carving is an exception from the above statement. Estimated value: $2.500.
