Minden,NV - Douglas County - c1920 - Train Through Minden Photograph :
A locomotive with passenger car travels past the Minden Inn. Photograph measures 10”x8”, no matte, medium contrast—tends toward the grey, and focus is good. The sign can be read clearly. Photo in good condition, but there is minor wear on the corners and a few faint creases. Minden was founded in 1905 by H.F. Dangberg Land and Livestock Company and the Virginia and Truckee Railroad Company (V&T RR). Rancher, Henry Fred Dangberg was born in the Prussian town of Minden, Westphalia (1857). He named the town of Minden, NV after his birthplace [Carelson, Nevada Place Names]. The V&T RR built a short line between Carson City and Minden in order to make a railroad connection with ranchers in the Carson Valley. Minden had a post office by 1906.
