Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 1857. 15 Shares at $100 per share, #130, Black border, allegorical Woman and Corn in middle with small train on left counterfoil area. Issued and uncancelled. VF. Extremely rare stock certificate that is listed as a railroad, but the design is totally different then the listed stock in Cox. Horatio Hill came to Milwaukee from Bangor, Maine, in 1847. Hill was also an organizer and president of the Milwaukee and Beloit R.R. Co., a director and president of the Milwaukee board of trade, and an organizer and president (1860-1861) of the Milwaukee chamber of commerce. During the Civil War, he served as Sutler with the Union army. He died in New Jersey. Rare and historic Wisconsin railroad stock certificate signed by notable, Horatio Hill.
