Milwaukee, WI - $5 1902 Red Seal Fr. 587 The Germania NB Ch. # (M)6853
This serial number 1-C note is the first note in a trio of gorgeous low-numbered $5 Red Seals from this bank. The Germania was chartered in June 1903 just as the Red Seals were going to the presses, making these $5s some of the very first notes for this bank. This $5 is also only the eighth serial number 1 Red Seal for all denominations for the entire state. This well embossed $5 was gingerly cut from its sheet brethren, leaving behind nice margins to go along with this note's deep red, blue, and green inks. The signatures also look like they were applied earlier today, and not over a 100 years ago. This sensational $5 Red Seal will certainly strike a chord with the paper money community tonight. Superb Gem Crisp Uncirculated.
