Milton Caniff - Dickie Dare Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 3-31-34 (The A. P., 1934). Dickie Dare serves as a landmark in the history of comic strips. The feature showcased the early work of Milton Caniff. While working as a staff cartoonist on several minor Associated Press features, Caniff heard that the syndicate was looking for comic strip features. Over a weekend, Caniff created Dickie Dare, an adventure strip about a young boy with a voracious appetite for books, and a boundless imagination, who found himself involved in imaginary adventures with heroes he had read about from both history and fiction. The strip offered here, featuring Dickie, Lancelot, and Queen Morgana, as well as Dickie's dog Wags, measures approximately 25" x 6" overall. The strip has been mounted to a piece of backing board; otherwise, it is in Very Good condition. An inscription in the lower right margin reads, "For Morris Weiss, in return for his interest - Milton Caniff, New York, May 10." The daily was also signed in its third panel.

Shipping: Flat Material, Large (view shipping information)
