Mills Coin-op Violano-Virtuoso. This rare machine plays from large paper rolls turning on an electric motor contained in the base, simultaneously plays a piano built into the backboard and a single violin in the top section of the cabinet. The violin is in good condition with no breaks or hairlines, has 4 tuning weights, mechanically operated fingerboard and wheel-shaped bows, one designated for each string; violin playing mechanism is contained in a metal case with heavy cast metal chassis having a nickel finish and patent date plaque mounted on the top. The piano is mounted upright on the back board and is signed, and numbered “4070” Mills Novely Co., Chicago, Ill, USA. The large mahogany case has folding front doors with glass panels on the front exposing the violin, doors in the base hide the motor and full length carved pilasters on the sides; 5 cent coin slide is on the front right of the case, stamped number on the back “4179”. Case has an overcoated original finish with some minor losses to the veneer; in good condition and running, has 6 extra rolls. 64 in. high x 43 in. wide x 30 in. deep.
