Millingen, J. CONSIDÉRATIONS SUR LA NUMISMATIQUE DE L’ANCIENNE ITALIE. Florence, 1841. (4), x, 268, (2) pages. [bound with] Millingen, J. SUPPLÉMENT AUX CONSIDÉRATIONS SUR LA NUMISMATIQUE DE L’ANCIENNE ITALIE. Florence, 1844. 32 pages; 2 engraved plates of coins. 8vo, contemporary tan half calf, gilt, with marbled sides; spine with five raised bands, ruled and lettered in gilt; marbled endpapers. Spine missing lower 2 inches; front board detached but present, with rear board rather loose. Very good or so. Surprisingly rare, given the author’s prominence, especially with the supplement. Bablon, 139: “James Millingen (1775-1846), a well-known English archaeologist, formed a large collection of Greek coins when he was in the Orient, part of which he left to the Cabinet de France and the Biblioteca Nazonale di Brera.” Leitzmann 90.
