Signed book: Report of the [U. S.] Superintendent of the Coast Survey, Showing the Progress of the Survey During the Year 1852. Washington: Robert Armstrong, 1853. Hardcover, 9.25 x 11.5, 173 pages. Vertically signed on the front pastedown, “Millard Fillmore, Nov. 7, 1854” and also labeled in Fillmore’s hand “B—2,” on the title page. Book has been rebound with two new free-end pages in the front and end of the book; quarter brown leather over original scuffed tan leather boards. First free end page affixed to portion of front pastedown under signature, staining to edges of front pastedown, toning and foxing to inside pages, chipping to edges of opening and closing pages, and wear to covers and spine, otherwise very good condition. Book is also stamped “Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society Library” on the reverse of title page. Books also contains thirty-eight original pull-out maps.
