Millard Fillmore document signed as President, dated 6 December 1850. Document, written in elegant script, appoints Benjamin F. Pleasants as Chief Clerk in the Office of the Solicitor of the Treasury, and reads in part, ''…is authorised to take charge of that office and to perform the duties of the Solicitor…Millard Fillmore''. Letter is written on pale blue paper measuring 8'' x 10'' and is in near fine condition with pronounced signature. Gilt frame with rich ruby suede-textured mat measures 23.5'' x 18.5''. Includes portrait engraving.
