Mike Ploog - Original Art for Kull the Destroyer #11, page 30 (Marvel, 1973). Another swash-buckler from the mind of Robert E. Howard gets the Marvel treatment in this story from Kull the Destroyer #11. Mike Ploog takes pencil and ink in hand to craft this awe-inspiring masterpiece of fantasy featuring Kull in a face-off with his greatest foe, the ancient sorcerer Thulsa Doom. Although his work in mainstream comics was short-lived, Mike Ploog imagined and produced numerous pages of quality, working with many fantasy and horror characters. His Kull work here sparkles, with crisp detail and lavish brushwork. Overall size is 10.75" x 16" with an image area of 10" x 15". Condition of the art is very good, with only slight tape yellowing along the edges on all four sides. Blue line pencil sketching can be seen under the inks. An excellent way to study Ploog's working method. A great piece of art in any age! Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
