This very old brooch can also be worn as a pendant, as there is both a C-clasp and a loop for a chain. The pin has a 14 karat yellow gold bottom and 18 yellow karat gold top with enamel. It has an 8.4 TGW.
There are three layers to the top: The bottom one is burnished gold, the second is an oblong of polished gold with a split in the middle and the third is a small oblong decorated with enamel. The enamel is unchipped.
The entire pin is 1 1/8" wide and 3/4" deep. It is about 3/8" high, not including the clasp. This dates to about 1860. There has been some repair to the back, but the top is in very good shape and is exceptionally pretty and delicate. It is not marked but has been tested and is guaranteed to be 18 & 14 karat.
