<B>Mid-1980's Mike Gartner Game Worn Jersey.</B></I> Magnificent hard-hitting wear characterizes this historic red, white and blue mesh jersey worn on the ice by the team's greatest star. One can assume with quite a bit of assurance that this example dates to the 1985-86 season, when Gartner filled in as captain following an injury that sidelined Rod Langway. The rather amateurish application of the captain's "C" on the upper left chest is clearly the work of an equipment manager rather than a professional tailor. The star-studded front of the jersey otherwise features wonderful "Washington Capitals" text in white and blue tackle twill, with "Gartner 21" applied to rear. Stick, puck and board marks are found throughout. "Masha Air-Knit" label inside collar offers handwritten size "52" designation. Fight strap affixed at interior rear tail. Finally, a 10/10 blue sharpie inscription on rear numerals reads, "To Sal, Best Wishes, Mike Gartner." One of three Gartner jerseys presented within this auction. <I>LOA from Milt Byron.
