Mid 1900's Acoma Native American Coil Style Vase
In this lot is an Acoma Native American coil style bottle. This type of pottery is made using a coiled technique that came into northern Arizona and New Mexico from the south about 1500 years ago. The piece displays a classic wide globe-like body with a thin, long mouth. The exterior of the vase displays polychrome lines and geometric designs. The bottle is 9" tall and 22" around its widest spot. The clay is a light tan and there is a maker’s stamp on the bottom. The bottle is painted in brown, blue, green, and cream colors. The bottle is in good condition for its age.
