Mid-1900 Montana Crow Beaded Elk Hide Dress
This is an original Mid-20th Century Indian tanned hide and beaded woman’s dress from the Crow Native American Indians of Montana, called the Apsaalooke. The dress is comprised of cotton thread sewn Indian tanned Rocky Mountain Elk Hide hide dress with hide with wonderful hide fringes across the chest / shoulders, arms and bottom. The dress shows flower medallions with Indian hide buckskin backing in a floral shape with glass trade seed bead beadwork . There is also beadwork along the neck line, the chest / back and bottom edge shown on both sides. Nice supple hide for its circa 1940-1960’s age. The dress measures 38" long by 33" wide.
