An unparalleled piece from the Soviet space history with stamped inscription, date and numbering; such a radio helmet was for example used in the Soviet space missions: Soyuz 14 and Salyut 3

This is a microphone headset, in Russian “Shlemofon”, as it was used for example in the Soviet space missions: Soyuz 14 and Salyut 3. It is a leather helmet with grey earpieces, a chin strap and an electric communication cord which is attached to the left ear piece. There is a blue Velcro strip across the headband to attach the cap to the inside of the space suit. In front there are two throat microphones. The microphone headset was used for ground-based communication in both, the space station and at landing, to contact the rescue team via an emergency radio transmitter.

The microphone headset bears on the reverse of the leather collar the stamps with the inscription, date and numbering ‘??-3???59’ (= silk April 3, 59) and ‘1A51133’. The headset is in used but good condition. The dimensions are 20 x 25 x 28 cm.
