Excellent matte-finish 15 x 19 photo of Mantle getting a kiss on the cheek from a young fan, signed and inscribed in blue felt tip “To Bill, How’d you get this out of the Yankee Lounge? Best wishes, Mickey Mantle, No. 7.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 21 x 25. Some scattered mild toning and damp staining, a few light surface marks, and damp staining to mat, otherwise fine condition. According to the consignor, who was once a batboy for the Yankees, this photo hung in a private room in the Yankees clubhouse, along with a photo of Lou Gehrig, where the media was not allowed and the Yankees were allowed to relax, watch television, and have a beer or two. When the Yankees temporarily moved to Shea Stadium during renovations, this photo was left behind by the clubhouse man and presented to the batboy in 1973. Based on the history provided, an unbelievably rare photo, which even caught Mantle by surprise. Oversized.
