Gangster (1913–1976) born Meyer Cohen who was a trusted associate of racketeer Bugsy Siegel. After Siegel’s death in 1947, Cohen acquired Siegel’s West Coast gambling interests and lived extravagantly. After two convictions for income tax violations and 14 years in prison, Cohen pronounced himself a law-abiding citizen. ALS signed in pencil “Meyer Harris,” one page, 7 x 6.25, no date. Cohen contacts “Miss Howe” at the Bank of America in Hollywood. In full: “Kindly let bearer Mr. Irving Klein have access to my vault.” Intersecting horizontal and vertical folds, creased lower left corner, torn lower left corner, and light toning and soiling, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a Bank of America envelope with the typed name “Meyer Harris.” Very unique item from a mob giant.
