Fantastic set-list for a Rolling Stones rehearsal prior to their secret warm-up session at Sir Morgan’s Cove in Worcester, Massachusetts, on September 14, 1981, handwritten in green ballpoint by Mick Jagger on an off-white 8.25 x 11 lightly-lined sheet, headed at the top “Blues & CB’s & Encore,” and listing fourteen songs which consist of four Chuck Berry tunes, six blues standards, and four Stones originals. In very good condition, with discoloration from three guitar picks, light toning, small edge tears, and one small hole. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from REAL, and two letters of provenance from the original recipient, one letter, in part: “I was employed as a carpenter by Gil Markle owner of Long View Farm Recording Studio in 1981 to help build a large stage, kitchen, lounge area, bedroom and bathroom for the Rolling Stones stay at the farm prior to the 1981 Tattoo You tour. I was asked to stay on as part of the Stones staff during their fourteen-week stay at the farm…This letter is to authenticate the song list hand written by Mick Jagger for their secret warm up gig at Sir Morgan’s Cove in September 1981. Ian MacLagen who played keyboard for the Stones on this tour gave this song list to me.” As preparation for their first tour in three years, the Stones spent two months rehearsing at Long View Farms in West Brookfield, Massachusetts. Eager to play before a live audience, the band scheduled a surprise concert at the Sir Morgan’s Cove rock club under the name Little Boy Blue & The Cockroaches. Word inevitably leaked, however, and it wasn’t long before nearly 4,000 people crowded the small Worcester venue. Backed by its excellent provenance, this is an exceptionally rare song list penned by the Stones’ iconic frontman.
