French soldier and military commander during the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars (1769–1815) who was one of the original 18 Marshals of France created by Napoleon; he commanded the Old Guard at Waterloo but was tried and condemned for treason by the Chamber of Peers and executed. Partly-printed DS, in French, signed “Ney,” one page, 8 x 10, July 10, 1804. Document submitted to General Dutaillis reporting that he has given an order to General Leroux to deliver certain pistols to the regiments mentioned, totaling 661. Dutaillis is to advise the colonels of the various regiments that they are to accept these pistols in exchange for an equal number of pistols no longer in service. Ney adds one line in his own hand (translated): "These pistols have been duly repaired." In very good to fine condition, with some light stains, and paper loss to the upper left corner.
