Michaud: History of the Crusades illustrated by Gustave Dore (Philadelphia: George Barrie, undated), 362 and 360 pages, respectively, 100 full-page engravings, brown-leather binding with gold lettering and decorations, folio (11” x 14.75”), gilt edges. French historian Joseph Francois Michaud (1767-1839) first published his complete History of the Crusades in six volumes in 1840. This edition is a later (c. 1884) two-volume set. Volume I covers the First through the Fifth Crusades, and Volume II covers the Sixth through the Eighth Crusades and the Crusades against the Turks. Volume I (a bookplate is attached inside the front cover) is in good condition: the front cover is loose, the spine has a leather chip at the top, and the binding has moderate wear; the endpapers have some chips and archival book tape; the paper and engraved plates are very good. Volume II (a bookplate is attached inside the front cover) is in good condition: the front cover is detached and the binding has moderate wear; the paper and engraved plates are very good.

Shipping: Books & Catalogs (view shipping information)
