Title is Tribute to Karl Bodmer. 16 1/4" tall, 9 1/4" diameter. Michael Westergard (20th century) was active/lived in Montana. Michael Westergard is known for Sculptor-Indian genre. "My goal is to tell the history, to make people aware of events during the forming of the West" said this Montana based artist. He studied industrial arts at Northern Montana College in Havre, Montana, then served four years as a radioman in the Navy. Then he worked as a computer technician with Western Union in Great Falls where he began sculpting and in 1981, did his first bronze casting. He loves to research historical battlegrounds such as the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. In 1988, he turned to art full time.
