American theater and film producer (1909–1958) who won a Best Picture Oscar for his 1956 production of Around the World in 80 Days; he was also the third husband of Elizabeth Taylor. TLS signed “Mike,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, February 25, 1954. Letter to actress Virginia Grey, in part: "I hate writing a letter like this through a secretary, even my confidential Midori, who is taking this down as we are riding in a car, but I know that if I don't get it off, I won't. Also, you might as well know now that I can't spell or even write for that matter, so I suppose the best thing for me to do is to come to California this week and talk to you in person." Todd adds a typed postscript, as well as a single handwritten line at the end: "If youse can use a typewriter so can I—." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Todd was the stage producer of the 1948 Abbott and Costello film Mexican Hayride, which featured Grey as a co-star.
