TLS signed ‰ÛÏM. I. Pupin,‰Û one page, 7.75 x 10.5, personal letterhead, November 16, 1928. Letter to Walter Russell, president of the Society of Arts and Sciences in New York City, recommending Robert A. Millikan or Clinton Davisson for an award. In full: "Robert Andrews Millikan is a very good candidate for the Science Medal for 1929. I certainly approve of Dr. Slosson's suggestion. May I add that Mr. Davisson of the Western Electric Co. has made a very important discovery lately; the discovery, namely, that moving electrons when reflected by metallic surfaces, behave like sources of radiation. For this discovery, he will receive next week the Comstock Medal of the National Academy of Sciences. It is well for your Board of Governors to keep him in mind." In very good to fine condition, with stains at the corners from old adhesive residue on the back.
