Carving knife made by prominent San Francisco cutlery maker Michael Price, who was a main competitor to Will & Finck. Marked on blade, M. Price, San Francisco. Blade 7 inches long, hilt 5.5". Price came to San Francisco in the 1850s. He was well established as a cutler by 1860. Please see Levine, 1998, Chapter 4 for a detailed history of Price.
