Meyer Amschel Rothschild ALS 1834 Meyer Amschhel Rothschild, An Autographed Letter Signed by the Fa
Meyer Amschhel Rothschild, An Autographed Letter Signed by the Famed Banking Family Member of the famous European banking firm of Rothschild, succeeded his father as head of the Frankfort branch of the firm. His father was also Meyer Amschel Rothschild who founded the banking dynasty. Letter Signed, 1 page 4to, in German Franfort, March 9, 1834, to " Messrs. Brother Jacoby" in Berlin. Rothschild writes: " Since you used your influence with us in the past on behalf of a certain Abraham Wolkowitz of Pohlen, {see note below} {with us} we take the liberty to present you and original letter {not present} written by Mr. Mayor Schwaner of Offenbach, from which you will see that the former will only be allowed to stay in Offenbach for a longer period of time on bail in the amount of 200 Guilders; and since we are willing to provide half of this bail in the amount of 100 Guilders, we would like to ask you, in order to raise the other half, you would be so kind to name an amount that you would be willing to give and then send it here. We also would like to ask you that you return the original letter of Mr. Schwaner to us because...Wolkowitz needs it. In anticipation of your prompt answer, we are signing humbly with respect." Very good, with the separate address leaf with a small impression of his seal. Pohlen is perhaps the country Poland, but could also be a town somewhere in Central Europe or Germany.
