Lot of 3. 1)Mexican and Central American Antiquities, Calendars, and History. Seler, Eduard, E. Forstemann, Paul Shellhas, Carl Sapper, and E.P. Dieseldorff. Bowditch, Charles P., Trans. Bulletin 28 (1904). Collection of 24 papers translated from the German. Includes Mexican and Mayan chronology with special reference to the Zapotec calendar, Mayan race, calendar, religion, hieroglyphs, and chronology. With fold-out map and illustrations including several sections of the Humboldt Fragment believed to be an early Mexican calendar. The system was broken into twenty day periods with 365 days per calendar year. The calendar had symbols (typically animals) associated with a given numeral. The twenty day period (The Reckoning of Days) came to be in agreement with the 365 day calendar year. The first being the 52 year cycle, when the initial sign and numeral finally repeats itself [from the volume].
