Mexican Silver Mounted Saddle. This amazing item Mexican Silver Mounted Saddle.
Mexican Silver Mounted Saddle. This amazing item measures approximately 30 inches long, 13 inches wide and 16 inches high. The ornate detailing is most striking on the horn of the saddle, which is an impressive 7 inches in diameter. Hanging from the saddle is a three-foot-long sword in a leather scabbard. On one side of the blade is etched "echo por (sic: hecho por, or made by) Manuel Valencia, Oaxaca", and on the other side is some humorous text in Spanish which is a bit too ribald to quote here! On the cantle of the saddle is the name and address of the saddler, Luis Roco of Puebla. Accompanying this lot is a certificate of authenticity from the Nuevo Santander Gallery in McAllen, TX, noting the provenance of this item, which came from the McAllen Ranch collection and then the Enrique Guerra San Vicente Ranch Collection. Courtesy of J.
