Mexican Army Contract Pieper Model 1893 Revolving Carbine, #112, 8x50R Pieper cal., 9-shot, 19.75'' barrel, blue finish, straight-grip walnut stock and forend, using the Nagant gas seal patent mechanism. Supplied under contract to Pres. Porfilio Diaz. Marked on lower strap of frame ''G.M. No. *112*''. Non-fingergroove forend, with iron barrel band, sling swivels and buttplate. Left side of frame marked ''Ejercito Mexicano''. Condition is good to very good retaining approx. 60% muted and toning blue. Stocks show moderate dings, scuffs, and probable extra coat of varnish. Action functions as designed, bore is at least very good with well-defined lands and grooves. Some sources say that possibly 5000 were ordered; however, observed serial numbers are seldom over 300.
