Metropolitan Arms Navy Model Percussion Revolver, with holster, #6560, .36 cal., 7-1/2'' octagonal barrel, originally with blue and case hardened finish, brass triggerguard and backstrap, one-piece walnut grips. In period lightly decorated slim-jim holster. Ca. 1864. Considered by collectors as a secondary U.S. handgun, despite the fact that no U.S. contracts are known. Condition is very good with all visible matching serial numbers, except wedge which is #6455. Little original finish remains with light pitting to left side from holster storage. Some replaced screws to barrel assembly, which match condition nicely. Grips with moderate even general wear and fractional shrinkage. Small loss at right toe. Battle of New Orleans cylinder scene is faintly visible. Action is good, bore is fair. Holster shows moderate to heavy use, and belt loop has been removed from right side and placed on left side. Bore of revolver has worn through tip of holster indicating that they have been together for a very long time. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (Antique)
